Week 13: Work, work, work … Easter

April 2-6, 2012

This week is all about wrapping things up.

Here are some reminders for first-year and part-time students:

  • Remember to register for CRWR 1202 before the course opens for general enrolment on April 8. If you run into difficulties (and you may), contact Maureen.
  • If you’ve confirmed your summer work term, connect with your employer to complete your contract, due on April 10. This deadline is soft, but it’s in your best interests to complete the contract early and sort out your schedule for summer.
  • If you haven’t confirmed your work term and are still looking, make an appointment with Maureen to discuss options. There is a weekly sign-up sheet for appointments at Rm. 3323.
  • Volunteer to help with the Portfolio Show. There is a sign-up sheet posted in GoogleDocs.

And a few reminders for graduating students:

  • Check the Meeting Place to make sure you’re on track with your responsibilities for the show. If you’re not, raise a flag now for help.
  • Make sure all of your invitations are in the mail. If you’re running late, send an e-vite (jpeg posted in the Meeting Place) to your guests so they can respond by the RSVP deadline of April 10.

THANK YOU TO STAGECRAFT STAFF AND STUDENTS

Stagecraft’s KELLY PHILLIPS and student assistants are lending a hand with preparations for the Portfolio Show. This week, they’ll take care of prepping and painting the display easels for the event.

Week 10: Portfolio Show shifts to high gear

March 12-16, 2012

This year’s Portfolio Show is looking good! New for 2012 is a Saturday afternoon time slot (April 14, 2 to 5 p.m.) and a concurrent event at the college, Lit Fest New West.

Invitations for special guests — family, friends, employers, colleagues — will be in the mail this week, with posters, the program booklet, and the online website ready shortly thereafter.

P.S. What’s a Portfolio Show? It’s the capstone event for students enrolled in PRFU 2490, our program’s final professional readiness course. For the event, participants develop their professional portfolio to show the work they’ve done during program studies and related work experience and/or employment. It’s fun (music, speeches, a whole lot of energy) and well attended (150 to 200 people). Please come. Everyone is welcome.
